How and When Classes are Offered

FastTrac and NxLevel

The foundation of every successful FastTrac or NxLevel course is an active local coalition, which is made up of people who are committed to the growth and development of small businesses in their community. The make up of a coalition varies, but generally includes business owners, community leaders, lenders, economic and community development professionals and local chambers of commerce.

Coalition members work closely with Heart of Maine or Center staff to help determine which course is most appropriate for their community, plan and market the course, identify potential guest speakers, raise scholarships and recruit businesses to participate.

If you are interested in having a FastTrac or NxLevel course offered in your area, please contact Heart of Maine (northern and central Maine) or the Center for Entrepreneurship (western and southern Maine).

Tilling the Soil

Heart of Maine and the Maine Department of Agriculture work together to offer "Tilling the Soil" statewide, through partnerships with local agricultural service providers, including Resource, Conservation & Development Councils, Farm Service Agency, Natural Resources Conservation Service, Soil and Water Conservation Districts, independent consultants, Cooperative Extension, Coastal Enterprises, Maine Farms for the Future Program, Farm Credit of Maine and Maine FarmLink.

Classes are held each fall and winter. Locations are determined, in part, based on the interest expressed by farmers throughout the year. If you are interested in taking Tilling, please contact Heart of Maine to be placed on the mailing list.
