Council : Heart of Maine RC&D
The governing Council and resource committees, all volunteers, work with local leaders to identify rural development issues and successfully carry out projects in their communities. These volunteers believe and prove that each person can make a difference.
The RC&D program expands opportunities for Council sponsors by providing technical and financial assistance for community projects that conserve and improve the use of land and develop natural resources in an environmentally sound way. The Council, by adopting a project, makes a commitment to help move the project to completion by assuming either an active, supporting, or leadership role in working with the sponsors of the proposal.
Success depends on the grassroots, bottom-up approach used by these concerned and dedicated people.
Current Council Membership
The Council is made up of representatives from Soil & Water Conservation Districts, county governments, and towns. Council membership also includes at-large members.
